VINCENT PRICE - "NARRATOR" & "HOST"



Vincent Leonard Price Jr. was born in St. Louis, Missouri, USA on 27 May 1911
and died in Los Angeles, California, USA on 25 October 1993
from lung cancer and emphysema.

He was well known as an actor, writer, and gourmet.

Price had travelled throughout Europe, obtaining a degree from Yale; and later becoming an actor.

Price's voice was very distinctive, allowing him to portray the most gentle characters to the most villainous.

He featured and starred in hundreds of movies, television shows, documentaries, commercials, and radio shows,
that included action, adventure, dramas, mysteries and thrillers.
His first reported movie being the 1938 "Service de Luxe".

But Price's most identified genre was horror.

When asked, why did he appear in so many really bad movies,
Price replied that he loved to act.

The Narrator: The Hilarious House of Frightenstein (1971)(Canada)


Price was the narrator for this comedic television series. His ghostly head would open the show with
"
Another lovely day begins, for ghosts and ghouls with greenish skin. So close your eyes and you will find that you've arrived in Frightenstein. Perhaps the Count will find a way to make his monster work to-day. For if he solves this monster-mania, he can return to Transylvania! So welcome where the sun won't shine, to the castle of Count Frightenstein!"
and close the show with:
"The castle lights are growing dim. There's no one left but me - and him. When next we meet in Frankenstone...don't come alone."

Throughout each episode, Price would recite a variety of poems.

The show's 130 episodes were made over a nine month period,
with Price's involvement all being shot over a few days.

Vincent Price: The Price of Fear (1973 - 1975 & 1982)(UK)


Price hosts this radio anthology of horror stories for the British Broadcasting Corporation.
Often Price was also in the stories, playing himself as Vincent Price.
The show ran for three series. The first series original had five episodes, airing for a week in July 1973.
Another five episodes were added to this series,
with the ten episodes airing weekly from September to November, and repeated in December 1973.
Series two comprised six episodes airing weekly in April-May 1974, and repeated in 1975 with some episodes from series 1.
In 1983 series 3's six episodes aired weekly from April-May.

This television special was a tribute to the stars of horror movies.
Price acted as the host, interviewing the guests:

played by Billy Van.
