"The Goldern Years of Television" was a hosted series where David Lyle presents clips and episodes from television shows from the 1950's and 1960's including science fiction and horror shows. Lyle also presented interviews with cast and crew from these shows. The series ran from 1986 until 1987. From time to time, Lyle was assisted by Virginia Bell as "Ginger de Winter" self proclaimed president of the factitious New South Wales Barrel Girls Association. Some of the genre shows presented were: "Lost In Space" "The Invaders" "The Outer Limits" "The Twilight Zone" "Thriller" David Lyle biography: David Lyle began his career as a geologist and high school chemistry teacher. He would later move into to television as a writer and producer for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) and the Network Ten. While at Network Ten, Lyle became the host of the weekly "Golden Years Of Television" the the 1980s. He also had a regular movie and television quiz column in a Sunday newspaper, where the weekly winners would receive a movie video from the Bill Collins Movie Collection. Lyle changed networks, joining the Nine Network as an executive. While at Nine, Lyle worked on program development and acquisitions, developing local adaptations of international franchises such as "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire". He left Nine to join the production company Pearson Television in the United Kingdom. In 2001, Lyle moved to Los Angeles, California in the USA as head of FremantleMedia North America, launching "American Idol" for the Fox network. He moved on to head the cable channels Fox Reality and Nat Geo Wild. Lyle also served as president of Pact US.home. Lyle passed away on 23 September 2017; and is survived by his wife Janne and children Sam, Polly and Joanna. Virginia Bell biography: Bell was born in 1957 and was educated at SCEGGS Darlinghurst. She went on to study law at Sydney University, graduating in 1976 and being admitted to practice in 1977. Justice Bell took on some historic civil liberty cases involving those arrested at the first Gay Mardi Gras in 1978. A year later she would film a video showing how to avoid arrest during the parade. Bell as had a long and distinguished career in the legal profession in Australia. Bell also had the alter-ego Ginger de Winter, the self-appointed president of the mythical Australian Barrel Girls Association; appearing as a regular guest on the 1980s nostalgia program "The Golden Years Of Television". On 3 February 2009, Bell was the 48th High Court judge and the fourth woman to be appointed to the High Court of Australia.
