CHAMBER THEATRE |
"Chamber Theatre" was a host horror movie with Rich Clark as The Keeper screening on WVEC-TV-13 Hampton-Norfolk, Virginia, USA between 1984-1986. The Keeper was white-haired, black cloaked ghoul. He was accompanied by Buzz, the Fly and in later shows, by The Chambermaid. In one episode The Chambermaid brought in a stray dog, which turned out to be a vampire played by David Powers.
He was best known to viewers as "Sandy the Clown" and "Keeper of the Chamber" on the station's Friday night "Chamber Theatre" horror movie program. He was also the voice of the hand puppet character "Droopy The Dragon" on the "Bungles The Clown" show. And for 20 years, Clark hosted WVEC's "Alcoholics Anonymous" public service program.
Before television, Clark was a member of the Army's 82nd Airborne Division. Clark attended the Newark College of Engineering in Newark, New Jersey. He also attended the School of Radio and Television in Newark. Clark passed away on 26 May 2022. Clark was 87 years old and was predeceased by his wife, Virginia, and by his daughter, Elizabeth.
In 2023, Richard Clark as "The Keeper", was a nominee in the "The Official Horror Host Hall of Fame".
