CHILLING ADVENTURES IN SORCERY AS TOLD BY SABRINA

"SABRINA"

"Chilling Adventures In Sorcery As Told By Sabrina".
In 1971, the Comics Code Authority loosened its regulations regarding monsters, allowing limited use of "classic" creatures including vampires, werewolves, and zombies. Archie Comics then released in 1972 "Chilling Adventures In Sorcery As Told By Sabrina"; a combination of horror writing, but Archie style art!

Writer Frank Doyle, penciler Dan DeCarlo, and inker Rudy Lapick made up the production crew. This style did not work, so after only two issues, the series was revamped into a more traditional

title with non-cartoony art by Gray Morrow and associates, dropping Sabrina as the host. The retitled "Chilling Adventures In Sorcery" survived for nine more issues.

Background of Sabrina:
"Sabrina The Teenage Witch" was a comic book series published by Archie Comics about the adventures of a fictional American teenager named Sabrina Spellman. Sabrina was created by writer George Gladir and artist Dan DeCarlo, and first appeared in Archie's Madhouse #22 (cover-dated October 1962). Storylines of the character at elementary-school-age also appear under the title "Sabrina -- That Cute Little Witch" in almost all of the Little Archie comics.

The series' premise is that Sabrina, a "half-witch" - her mother is an ordinary human, while her father is a warlock - lives with her two aunts, Hilda and Zelda Spellman, both witches themselves, in the fictional town of Greendale, which is located somewhere near Riverdale, the home of Archie Andrews.

Also living with the three women as the family pet is Salem Saberhagen, a witch who has been turned into a cat as punishment for world domination attempts. Sabrina's primary romantic interest is her mortal boyfriend Harvey Kinkle who, is unaware his girlfriend is a witch.

The character of Sabrina, the teenage witch has appearecd in a number of comics, as well as animated and live action television series.
