LEGENDS & ODDITIES |
"Legends and Oddities" was a US anthology series that featured 10-15 minute episodes exploring some of the legends and other oddities in the Douglas County, Colorado area, screened on Douglas County TV Channel 8 from 2002-2003; using photographs and re-enactments.
Two of the episodes were horror hosted by Jim Kellett as "Norlock", and Laurel Harris as "Lolock", as vampires. The episodes were: 1) "Apparitions and Flies" (2002) - tells the story of the Highlands Ranch Mansion and the ghost of Julia Kistler. 2) "Apparitions and Bones" (2003) - one of the most common ghost stories in Douglas County began in 1871 when McIntyre family moved to a small settlement in Colorado called Coyote Gulch. It was not long until other residents noticed the McIntyres were stealing from everyone to make a living. Most people avoided Coyote Gulch as much as possible because of this suspicious activity. But one night, an unsuspecting stranger stumbled upon the McIntyre House looking for a place to stay. He was murdered by the family and some say his spirit still lives in the old abandoned home. |
In 1989, Jim Kellett appeared as "Count Norlick" in "The Late Night Horror Show".

"A wayward girl has just ventured up my castle path". Today I present Count Norlock, host of The Late Night Horror Show on KSPR Channel 33 in Springfield, Missouri, which began on April 21, 1989 and unfortunately lasted only one season. Norlock was extremely well portrayed by local actor Jim Kellett, who sported an incredible make-up job by Joe Bauer. The show was shot to look like vintage B&W classic horror cinema and was acted out like a macabre soap opera spoof. The set design was brilliant, the interior of the castle being immaculately detailed. Women were unnaturally drawn to the Count's castle like flies, Norlock was quite the ladies' man with those crazy hypnotic eyes and his powers of incantation. If you should ever find yourself drawn to his castle, try not to ask, "Does this place have spiders?" because it most certainly does... one named Norlock.
