Tommy Reynolds became "Dr. Shock" of "Shock Theatre" starting with WTVC, Channel 9 Chattanooga, Tennessee, from 3 June 1972 until 1974. The show moved to WDEF, Channel 12 Chattanooga, Tennessee, from 1974 until 1976. The final stop for the show was on WHNT-TV, Channel 19 Huntsville, Alabama in the early 1980's for about six months; with Reynolds passing away in 2008.

In 2010, John Gray would relaunch the show with the same characters (and more) and a new cast.

John Gray as "Dr. Shock" began presenting movies Tuff-TV and WDEF News 12 in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

A haunted world featuring classic and contemporary horror films, hosted by the neurotic ghoul "Dr. Shock" (John Gray) and his devilishly lovely sidekick "Nurse Goodbody" (Constance Nichole Nolan [nee Haynes] and later April Sinclair). Joining them is the mischievous prankster puppet Dingbat (voiced by Dare McCullough) and his puppet master, a "dream reaper," known as the "Dirge" (Terry Whittenbarger). The three exchange humorous banter and discuss facts drawn from horror and science fiction films presented on the Shock Theatre program.

Portrait of "Dr. Shock" by Bradley Beard.
"Dr. Shock" - biography (taken from Bradley Beard's Facebook page)
He grew up watching the horror host that he would later become. Tonight I present Dr. Shock, host of Shock Theatre on WDEF-TV Channel 12 in Chattanooga, TN. Dr. Shock was originally portrayed by Tommy Reynolds in the mid 1970's on WTVC-TV Channel 9 in Chattanooga. In 2010, John Gray reprised the role as a vehicle to present both horror movies and to highlight his heavy metal band. Dr. Shock is a brilliant telepath who's also quite adept at hypnosis. The Doc's exploits are kept in check by the sexy, sassy caregiver Nurse Goodbody... or Badbody, depending on her mood. "Nurse Goodbody brings the sizzle to Shock Theatre" says the Doc. The pair is joined by Dingbat, a reckless bat puppet who enjoys injecting a little chaos into the mix. Also on the roster is the dream reaper known as Dirge, a telepathic being that has the ability to dream his subject's fate then supplant his dream into their brains. Dr. Shock has breathed new life into a classic silver age horror host and given it his own unique twist. In a word, Dr. Shock ROCKS!
