DOUG PAUL - "ANNOUNCER"



"Shocktober" was a hosted horror movie show on WPIX Channel 11, New York, New York from 1991 till 1995. Each October, the station would screen horror movies from 8:00pm till 10:00pm through most of October.

The final in the series was in October 1995. The show would screen promotion commercials before each movie was shown; with Doug Paul providing the announcers voice.


Based just north of Atlanta on a farm converted into a recording studio in Dahlonega, Georgia, Doug's career spanned more than 25 years, his voice a fixture on US and European Television and radio, selling "Television series, cars, clothes, services or food."

Doug started out as a freelancer, voicing commercials and promotions. His big break came when NBC-TV EVP Marketing & Promotion Steve Schmer gave him his first network promo spot.

Among his clients were Ford, Walt Disney, Coca-Cola, Turner Broadcasting, NBC Universal, Tribune ABC Sports, Cream of Wheat, Calvin Klein, American Express, Miramax Films, HBO, Showtime and Discovery Channel.

Doug passed away on 7 March 2017 with the official cause of death heart failure resulting from pulmonary fibrosis; survived by his spouse Sharon.
