He used his actual name, not a pseudonym. Today I present Victor Ives, host of Sinister Cinema on KATU-TV Channel 2 in Portland, OR, which began in 1973. The cast reunited once for the Sinister Cinema Halloween Reunion special in 1987. At the time, Sinister Cinema was Portland's highest rated local program. The show's format was to screen a 15-minute serial followed by a creature double feature. Victor dressed with a cape and presented himself as a sophisticated vampire with a wealth of information about the movie being shown. He was joined by Jimmy Hollister who played two different characters on the show; Ravenscroft, the long-haired bug eyed assistant and Head, the decapitated head on a silver platter. in the words of Victor Ives, "May your nightmares have a happy ending in the final reel." |
