We've all got his name on each of our hands... one, two, three, four, five. Today I present The Count of Five, host of Suspense Theatre, which began in 1977 and later became Movies and Madness which ended in 1982, on WTVF-TV Channel 5 in Nashville, TN. The Count was conceived by Bob McGehee when Channel 5 executives decided they needed a character to host late night horror movies. After making his own costume and carving his fangs out of a block of parrafin, Bob was ready to give The Count life... or death, as the case may be. The show was shot on a shoestring budget and didn't even have a set; McGehee brought his own props and ad-libbed the segments. The Count told Dr. Gangrene in an interview for Scary Monsters Magazine that only a few outtakes might possibly remain of his show, one can only hope that one day they surface. Check out the link below to read Dr. Gangrene's amazing interview. |
