TALES FROM THE CRYPT |
"Tales From The Crypt" originated as an American bi-monthly horror comic anthology series published by EC Comics from 1950 to 1955, and with the host being "The Crypt Keeper".
In April and June 1954, a congressional subcommittee hearings on the effects of comic books upon children left the industry shaken. With the subsequent imposition of a highly restrictive Comics Code, EC Comics publisher Bill Gaines cancelled "Tales From The Crypt".
"Tales From The Crypt" would return in later years in the form of television series, movies and as a radio show.
Several "Tales From The Crypt" radio shows were recorded for Seeing Ear Theatre, an online subsidiary of The Sci-Fi Channel and were offered free as streaming RealAudio files on their website, as well as for sale on Audible.com. Featuring most of the same producers from the HBO television series, 13 episodes were planned, but only 8 stories were recorded. Two of the stories were taken from the EC comic series "The Vault of Horror".
