USA Saturday Nightmares was a non hosted show on the USA Network from 1984 until 1994 (with Alan Kalter as the unseen announcer). The show was on at 8:00pm every Saturday night and showed many B Horror and Sci-Fi films. Most movies shown also appeared on "Commander USA's Groovie Movies" and "USA Sci-Fi Theater". Also shown were episodes of "The New Alfred Hitchcock Presents", "The Hitchhiker", and "The Ray Bradbury Theater". The most famous introduction to the series had the viewing moving through a CGI haunted house where the paintings changed. It started outside the house and moved inward. The first painting, depicted random acts of violence and terror with a woman screaming, a gunshot, a falling body, and a hatchet swing. The second painting went from Frankenstein, Dracula, The Phantom of the Opera, Mr. Hyde, and The Wolfman. The third painting changed between The Brood, Michael Myers, Jason Voorhees, and Freddy Krueger before showing a movie screen; with Alan Kalter's voice welcoming you. Occasionally, the show would run a short film as filler afterward, most notably "The Dummy" and "Living Dolls".

From IMDB: Alan Kalter was born on 21 March 1943 in Brooklyn, New York, USA. He is known for his work on "Late Show" with David Letterman (1993), "USA Saturday Nightmares" (1986) and "Commander USA's Groovie Movies" (1985). Kalter taught English at Baldwin High School on Long Island in the late 60s. He was the voice of the Michelin Man. He was the spokesperson for New York's Mega Millions. After the attacks of 11 September 2001, he began announcing "The Late Show" with David Letterman by saying "From New York, the greatest city in the world..." Kalter was married to Carol Beverly Cepler and later Margaret (Peggy) Masterson. He died on 4 October 2021 in Stamford, Connecticut, USA. Alan Kalter was also the announce for the "Commander USA's Groovie Movies".
