JOHN ZACHERLE - "ROLAND"
JEAN ZIEGLER - "MY DEAR"

John Zacherle was an established actor/host, who has entertained television audiences since about 1953. As a horror host, first as "Roland" and later as "Zacherley", he hosted not only horror movie shows such as "Chiller Theater" and "The Shock Theatre", but also children cartoon shows - "The Mighty Hercules" and "The Three Stooges"; as when as a teenager music/dance show "Disc-O-Teen".

He was a very versatile actor, attracting a huge following of fans.

THE SHOCK THEATRE:
"The Shock Theatre" was a hosted horror movie show with John Zacherle as "Roland" presenting movies on WCAU-TV Channel 10, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; from 7 October 1957 to 13 September 1958. Roland often referred to his wife - "My Dear" who was never seen; but when Zacherle was removed from the show, Jean Ziegler as "My Dear" took his place for three shows, when Zacherle returned. The show aired Monday and Tuesday at 11:25pm, then moved to Friday and Saturday nights.

Besides his television shows, as Zacherley, he is featured in videos,

records/cds, dvds, books and magazines.

In 2011, John Zacherle - "Zacherley" - "Chiller Theatre", was inducted into "The Official Horror Host Hall of Fame".

"Zacherley" - biography (taken from Bradley's Facebook page)"
"We've all seen the ghoul named Roland but of My Dear… only her hand. Could it be he has fear because Igor is near, that he won't show the rest of My Dear?" Today I present Roland otherwise known as Zacherley, the king of all horror hosts. He and his dear My Dear found their humble beginnings in 1957 at WCAU in Philadelphia introducing Shock Theatre; a package of 52 Universal Horrors released by Screen Gems to TV syndication. In 1958 he moved to WABC in New York and became known as Zacherley. It was his friend and colleague Dick Clark who nicknamed him "The Cool Ghoul". Zacherley quickly became a household name and recognizable commodity; he even appeared twice on covers of Famous Monsters of Filmland magazine, issues #7 and #15. John Zacherle turned 96 years young this year and all I can say is...LONG LIVE THE KING! Be sure to join me tomorrow... my dears.

Sadly John Zacherle passed away on 27 October 2016.
