LATE NIGHT HORROR

VALENTINE DYALL - "THE MAN IN BLACK"

"Late Night Horror" was a short lived horror play anthology that aired in the United Kingdom weekly in 1968 from 11 April 1968 until 16 May 1968 on the BBC. It comprised 6 x 30 minutes horror stories.

The stories aired were:
1) "No Such Thing as a Vampire"
2) "William and Mary"
3) "The Coprse Can't Play"
4) "The Triumph of Death"
5) "The Bells of Hell"
6) "The Kiss of Blood"

The series was repeated in 1970. After complaints that is was not suitable for audiences, the series was pulled by the BBC.

All episodes are missing, likely destroyed, except "The Coprse Can't Play", which may be purchased (along with a book on the series) from TV Brain (link below).

Valentine Dyall

Of interest, Valentine Dyall as "The Man In Black" did a spooky promo for the series on BBC 2 in 1968.

From IMDB:
He could have been described as the "British Vincent Price". This distinguished actor was probably best known for his voice work. His low, resonant and mellifluous tones were employed to chill and excite for at least half a century. His most famous radio role was as "The Man In Black", back in the late 1940s, but he was making radio appearances as late as 1980 in "The Hitch Hiker's Guide To The Galaxy", and undoubtedly later, and was in the BBC Television Shakespeare in the year of his death, at 77.

Valentine Dyall is best known as "The Man In Black".
