GHOULISH MOVIES |
"The Horrible Life of Dr. Ghoul" is a 2013 short movie that tells the sad tale of "Dr. Ghoul" (a mad scientist/vampire character - played by Chris Doubek), who is the host of "Ghoulish Movies", a hosted horror movie show on K-VRT.
The poor fellow goes from bad to worse, from ripping his cape, having to visit his ex to get his spare cape, to taking advise on his show from a bartender.
CHRIS DOUBEK From IMDB: Called "A staple of the Austin indie scene" by Rotten Tomatoes (though he prefers 'binder clip' as it holds more and is less invasive!), Chris was featured in over 30 "Slackavetes" films at SXSW including lead roles in Lovers of Hate (also nominated for an Independent Spirit John Cassavetes Award) & Computer Chess, directed by the "Godfather of Mumblecore", Andrew Bujalski . Both films had their world premieres at Sundance. Cannes premieres include Krisha directed by Trey Shults and Bacurau (Grand Prix Winner in 2019).
Chris was fortunate to have a summer stock theatre - the Hampton Playhouse, in his adopted hometown, where he stayed out of trouble during high school summers working as an apprentice. Now sadly "Playhouse Drive", it lives on in memory as the beginning of a great adventure.
