MOVIE MACABRE |
| "Movie Macabre" was a hosted horror movie show on WZTV Channel 17 in Nashville, Tennessee, USA; on Saturday nights at 10:00pm from 14 April 1984 until 28 September 1985.
The hosts were William Lehmann as "Coyote McCloud" and Ronda Jones. The show had regular guests, including "Skid Row Joe".
The show was unusual in that it showed episodes from Elvira's "Movie Macabre", including Elvira's host segments.
William Lehmann as "Coyote McCloud" and Ronda Jones would return in a new hosted horror movie show "Scary Tale Theater" on WZTV Channel 17, with the first episode gong to air at 10:00pm on Saturday 1 March 1986. When Lehmann left the show, Jones was assisted by "Skid Row Joe". The show likely only ran during 1986.
To learn a lot more about these hosts, I recommend reading "Masters of Terrormonies: The History of TV Horror Movie Hosts in Nashville, Tennessee" by Larry Underwood. The book is available through Amazon.
WILLIAM LEHMANN - "COYOTE MCCLOUD"
From Wikipedia
McCloud was one of the subjects of a CBS 48 Hours documentary in 1992 about "shock radio". McCloud enjoyed his highest level of popularity while working for Y107 (now WRVW) and had his own fan club. He worked at the station for more than 10 years, from 1984 to 1995. McCloud was featured frequently in Billboard.
RONDA JONES Ronda was born in Southern Ohio, and moved to Nashville a few months before her 18th birthday. Ronda had played one of the Hee Haw Honeys on "Hee Haw". On 12 May 1984, Ronda entered a "Elvira" look alike contest run by WZTV and won. She was a thirty year old bartender at the time. This lead to her being hired as a co-host on "Movie Macabre", that ran until 28 September 1985. On 1 March 1986, Ronda was co-host on "Scary Tale Theater", which probably only ran during 1986. After the show ended, Ronda left public life. |
