PYEWACKET PRESENTS |
"Pyewacket Presents" was a horror movie show on WQAD-TV Channel 8 in Moline, Illinois, USA. The show likely ran in the 1980s.
What is the original of the name Pywewacket?
Pyewacket was one of the familiar spirits of a witch detected by the notorious "witch finder general" Matthew Hopkins in March 1644 in his own town of Maningtree, Essex, UK. According to his story, he spied on the witches as they held their meeting close by his house, and heard them mention the name of a local woman. She was arrested and deprived of sleep for four nights, at the end of which she confessed and named her familiars. They were: Holt Ilemauzer Jarmara Newes Pecke in the Crowne Pyewacket Sacke and Sugar Vinegar Tom

"Marlena Midnite of Midnite Mausoleum" provided additional information:
All I remember about it was that Pywackett was a black kitty wearing a red collar. I'm inclined to recall that the theme music was the R. Strauss score that was used during the "Atmospheres" segment of "2001," although I think that might have been another show that was aired on KCRG out of Cedar Rapids.
For April fools day in 2022 (I believe) we ("Midnite Mausoleum") replaced our show with Pyewacket Presents without telling anyone ahead of time... the MM titles began running then went to a "bars and tone" screen, then our re-creation of Pyewacket took over.".
I still have this clip on my phone ... probably doesn't resemble the original much since none of the footage survives.
A very big thank you to "Marlena Midnite" for this information.
There are no known images or clips of the original "Pyewacket" or the show. |
