"Saturday Nite Dead" was a host horror movie show with Steven R. Smith as "Dr. Tom B. Stone" presenting movies on KTSF-TV Channel 26 in San Francisco, California. The show ran from September 1979 until August 1980. Smith was a former US Marine. His character was a vampire, with cape. Twenty of the shows were filmed "live".
"Dr. Tom B. Stone" - biography (taken from Bradley Beard's Facebook page)" He haunted an old mausoleum atop San Bruno Mountain. Tonight I present Tom B. Stone, host of Saturday Nite Dead on KTSF-TV Channel 26 in San Francisco, CA, which ran from September 1979 to August 1980. Tom kicked off his 49 week run by hosting George Romero's classic "Night of the Living Dead". He once hosted The Beatles "Magical Mystery Tour" as a horror movie; Bay area Beatles expert Chris Yamasaki provided commentary. Twenty episodes of the show were filmed "live". The audience was encouraged to call in on "The Dead Line", an unpredictable event that could provide interesting results. The demise of Saturday Nite Dead wasn't due to low ratings but rather when the station utilized the programming time for a wireless premium channel. Unfortunately the show didn't last long but the memories of its loyal fans still linger.
