PAUL FREES - "TELLER OF TALES"



"The Black Book" was a hosted mystery anthology radio series from 1952, with Paul Frees as host - "Teller of Tales"; who would recite a story from his giant collection of stories. There were around seven episodes (two of which were audition shows).

Paul Frees was born on 22 June 1920 in Chicago, Illinois, USA; and passed away o 2 November 1986 in Tiburon, California, USA. Frees was an actor, composer, songwriter voiceover artist and author. His popular-song compositions include "Hollywood Soliloquy", "The Clown", "Drowning My Sorrow", and "Voice in the Wind".

Frees was also one of the hosts of the 1942 - 1962 radio anthology series "Suspense"; announcer for "Bradbury 13"; and one of the hosts of the horror radio anthology "Escape!".
