THE DUNGEON OF DR. DRECK |
"The Dungeon of Dr. Dreck" was a hosted horror movie show with Michael Legge as "Dr. Dreck" presenting movies on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights at 10:00pm for ABMI Cable Channel 8 Bellingham, Massachusetts from 2004, running for many years. The Denizens of the Dungeon include: Dr. Dreck (Michael Legge) is an illegal medial practitioner who believes that a person does not need a license if your heart is in the right place (he keeps his in the freezer). Moaner Johnson (Lorna Nogueira) was killed in a bus accident on the way to a basketball game but came back as a flesh-eating zombie. She is Head Cheerleader for the Casketball Team at George Romero High School. Groaner Johnson (Diane Mela) is Moaner's older sister, a graduate of the Frankenstein School of Scare Dressing. She aspires to be the Scaredresser to the Stars, although the scariest ones, like Bette Davis and Lucille Ball, are dead. Madame Nicotina (Roberta Marsden) is the world's worst psychic, acquiring her dubious powers as a child, when she was run over by a tobacco truck. She divines the future by reading the ashes of cigarette butts, and if there is enough left, she will smoke them. Shrunken Ed, a decapitated head that was shrunken down slightly. Stu the Giant Rat, a nasty rodent with subtitled dialogue. Bruno (season one only) the disgruntled mailman, was Madame Nicotina's assistant because he could actually read. At times he countered Madame's predictions with his own, which were even more worthless.
In 2008, "The Dungeon of Dr. Dreck" - a direct-to-dvd movie was released; that tells the tale of when, in the 1960's, local programming thrives as television stations create shows for their viewing public. Suddenly the "horror host" becomes a nationwide presence on the airwaves as old horror and science fiction movies are released to television. "Dr. Dreck" and "Moaner" go on the air in the small town of Fibbia, Massachusetts, USA. They incur the wrath of the station's grand dame, Louise Morgan, when the popularity of their show pushes her show off the air. So Louise gets nasty. But "Dr. Dreck" and "Moaner" can get nastier. Because they are what they really seem to be; a mad scientist and a zombie.
"Dr. Dreck" also appears in New England Horror Hosts Takeover" The Monster Channel.

"Don't you see? It's Dr. Dreck and he's trying to kill us." Tonight I present Dr. Dreck, host of The Dungeon of Dr. Dreck on ABMI Cable Channel 8 In Bellingham, MA. The show is now in its 11th year and is distributed to 30 public access stations nationwide. The show is featured every Saturday on Kreepy Kastle TV as well. Dreck is joined on the show by his co-host, Moaner the Zombie Cheerleader. Moaner Johnson was killed in a bus accident on the way to a basketball game. Dreck seized the opportunity to try out his re-animation serum on Moaner. Like most of his experiments, it worked... AND like most of his experiments, it had serious side effects. Moaner became a carnivorous zombie who loves to devour the living while cheering on her team. Dreck is also joined by Moaner's sister Groaner, Madam Nicotina, Stu the Rat, and Shrunken Ed, among others. The Dungeon of Dr. Dreck is both entertaining and funny, a
classic nod to the golden age of horror hosting.

Her name was Moaner Johnson... really, it was. Tonight I present Moaner the Zombie Cheerleader, co-host of The Dungeon of Dr. Dreck. She was the head cheerleader at her high school until she was killed in a freak bus accident on her way to a basketball game. Dr. Dreck saw this as a unique opportunity to try out his reanimation serum. After her burial, Dreck dug her up, took her back to his lab, and injected her with his serum to bring her back to life. Dreck was unaware of the one unfortunate side effect, Moaner became a flesh eating zombie. Moaner didn't appreciate this intrusion on her death at first, but she's gotten used to it. Moaner joined the Dreck's show and gave it a new life. To quote Dr. Dreck, "Dr. Dreck is the mouth of the show and Moaner is the heart".
In 2020, Michael Legge - "Dr. Dreck" and Lorna Nogueira - "Moaner" from "Dungeon of Dr. Dreck",
were inducted into "The Official Horror Host Hall of Fame".
