THE HOUSE OF MYSTERY |
"The House of Mystery" was a hosted mystery / supernatural anthology radio series with John Griggs as host "Roger Elliott" (aka "The Mystery Man").
The series aired from 15 January 1945 until 25 december 1949. The show featured suspenseful and thrilling stories tailored for young listeners, with a strategic approach to blending stimulation with socially-enlightened content. The program was a success for producer Robert Maxwell and writer-director Olga Druce, who sought to offer a compromise between the perils and pleasures of audio horror for a juvenile audience.
A pilot for a TV version of The House of Mystery was made in 1954, but it was never broadcast. Dan O'Herlihy portrayed Elliott, and Maxwell was the producer.
