TWILIGHT ZONE

DARRYL SCHAFFER - "ANNOUNCER"

Around 2013, Frank Bell produced at least three "Twilight Zone" stories, based on original "The Twilight Zone" stories by Rod Serling.

As part of Frank Bell's duties at St. John's and Fordham Universities, Bell produced, directed and acted in these short stories. He was able to do this with permission, to be used as instructional purposes, and without any income being made from their production.

The short films were:
"The Changing of the Guard": which is one of the most moving and emotional of all the "Twilight Zone" episodes and has always been one of Bell's personal favorites. It is about a teacher who has come to believe he has led a wasted life, and whose deceased students come back to rescue him. The film contains some of the most moving and eloquent dialogue ever written by the great Rod Serling.

"The Howling Man": which is one of the most profound and popular of all the "Twilight Zone" episodes and has always been one of my Bell's favorites. It is about an American on a walking tour through central Europe who, in the words of the great Rod Serling, "confronts a problem that has tormented mankind since the beginning of time."

"Walking Distance": which is the greatest of all the "Twilight Zone" episodes and has always been Bell's personal favorite. It is about nostalgia, "longing for the past," and remains one of the most popular episodes ever written by the great Rod Serling. "Walking Distance" contains some of the most moving and eloquent dialogue in the history of television. In this film, Darryl Schaffer was the voice of the Announcer. In true Rod Serling accent, providing the prologue and epilogue.
