BORIS KARLOFF

"Out of This World" was a hosted science fiction anthology television series with Boris Karloff as host, screening on ITV - Independent Television (UK). The series of thirteen episodes ran from 7 July 1962 until 22 September 1962. The episode "Dumb Martian" was intended to be screened on "Out of this World", but as actually screened as an episode of "Armchair Theatre". The series was hosted by Boris Karloff. Many of the episodes were adaptations of stories by science fiction writers including: Isaac Asimov Philip K. Dick Clifford D. Simak The series is described by the British Film Institute as a precursor to the BBC science fiction anthology series "Out of the Unknown", which was produced by Out of This World's creator Irene Shubik after she left ABC.

Boris Karloff was born William Henry Pratt on 23 November 1887 and died on 2 February 1969. He was an established actor, starring in many movies, television shows, radio and records. He his best remembered by horror fans as "Frankenstein's Monster", "The Mummy" and "Fu Manchu". The last role for Karloff was the 1971 sicence fiction / horror movie "The Incredible Invasion" playing the part of Professor John Mayer. In 2024 William Henry Pratt as "Boris Karloff" was inducted into the "The Official Horror Host Hall of Fame".
